Wołowiec (2,064 m a.s.l.) is a commanding summit in the Western Tatras, sitting right on the Polish-Slovak border within the scenic Roháče group. Its broad, grassy-rocky crown offers a full 360-degree panorama that rivals many higher Tatra peaks, making it a favourite goal for ridge walkers on both sides of the border.

The mountain has a generous, open character — no narrow ridges or exposed scrambles on the main approaches, yet the views from the top are spectacular in every direction. To the east and south you can spot the jagged silhouettes of the High Tatras, while the Western Tatras stretch out west and south. The Orava Beskids, Orava Magura and Low Tatras complete the horizon. Below, two deep valleys frame the massif: Jamnická Valley on the Slovak side and Chochołowska Valley on the Polish side. In summer the high pastures are lush and inviting; in autumn the ridge glows with colour; in winter snow and ice make the ascent significantly more demanding.

• From the east — from Pyšné Saddle via Klin (2,173 m) and Hrubý vrch (2,137 m), red trail, demanding
• From the south — from the Jamnická/Račková Valley junction via Jamnická Valley and Jamnícke Saddle, blue trail, moderate
• From the north — from Oravice via Bobrovecké Saddle and Rákoň (1,879 m), blue trail, moderate
• From Zverovka via Rákoň, yellow trail, moderate

• The summit lies exactly on the Polish-Slovak border — both Tatra National Parks (TANAP and TPN) rules apply
• The western part of the massif falls within the Roháčske plesá National Nature Reserve on the Slovak side
• A marked tourist trail crosses the summit — there is no mountain hut directly on the peak

Wołowiec is a true junction peak: a massive ridge called Dlhý Upláz branches northward from the summit, eventually splitting towards Osobitá and Bobrovec — the whole web of Orava ridges laid out beneath you like a living map.
