Zelené pliesko is a tiny but enchanting mountain tarn tucked away in the Spálená Valley of the Western Tatras, sitting at 1,472 m above sea level. Small in size yet big in atmosphere, it offers a peaceful reward for hikers passing through this lesser-visited corner of the Tatras.

The lake measures just 37 metres long and 13 metres wide, with a maximum depth of only 2.1 metres — yet its calm, green-tinted water and unspoilt surroundings make it a genuinely memorable stop. Two small streams feed it from the south and east, while the Spálený stream flows out and eventually joins the Roháčský stream below. The landscape here is classic Western Tatras: open grassy slopes, rocky terrain and wide views across the surrounding ridges. In summer the water takes on a beautiful emerald hue, in spring it mirrors lingering snowfields, and in autumn the slopes glow golden with dwarf pine and mountain grasses.

• Adamcuľa junction — blue hiking trail heading towards Horné Roháčske pleso (Upper Roháč Lake); the trail runs along the southern shore of the tarn; easy to moderate difficulty.

• The tarn lies within a national park area — please follow all nature protection rules.
• Best visited in summer and early autumn when trails are fully accessible.

The name 'Zelené pliesko' simply means 'Little Green Tarn' — and on a calm sunny day, the water really does shimmer with that distinctive green glow that gives this hidden gem its charm.
