The Sloupsko-Šošůvské Caves are one of the most spectacular underground systems in the Czech Republic — a vast network of domes, passages and enormous subterranean chasms spread across two levels. The atmosphere underground is truly captivating: cool, moist air, intricate and colourful stalactite formations glittering in the lamplight, and the distant sound of the Sloupský stream rushing through the lower levels. Above ground, the scenic valley leading to the cave entrance is dominated by the striking rock massif of Hřebenáč, where the stream disappears underground. The surrounding landscape of the Moravian Karst is beautiful in every season — refreshingly cool in summer and richly coloured in autumn.

The undisputed highlight of the tour is the Nagel Chasm — nearly 90 metres deep and among the most impressive underground abysses in the whole of the Czech Republic. History buffs will enjoy knowing that Jules Verne himself referenced the 'Sloup Caves with Macocha' in his 1907 novel 'The Green Ray'.
