Praděd (1491 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Jeseníky Mountains and the entire Czech Silesia — a mountain landmark instantly recognisable by its slender concrete transmission tower that looks like a rocket on a launchpad. It is one of the most visited mountain destinations in the Czech Republic, and the views from the top are simply spectacular.

The summit sits above the treeline, surrounded by open alpine meadows and dwarf pine thickets that blaze with colour in summer and transform into a frost-covered wonderland in winter. On a clear day the panorama stretches from Sněžka to the northwest all the way to the Tatras and Malá Fatra to the southeast. The mountain straddles the Great European Watershed — streams rising on its slopes drain into both the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, making Praděd a true continental crossroads.

• From the Praděd (rozc.) trail junction — blue marked trail leading to the summit; the final stretch follows a narrow asphalt service road to the Praděd (vrchol) stop.
• From the U Barborky pass (the highest road pass in the Hrubý Jeseník range) — a short and relatively easy approach via the southern slope.

• Inside the 162 m transmission tower you will find Hotel Praděd with a restaurant and a glazed observation deck at 1563 m a.s.l., accessible by lift.
• A weather station operates on the summit — conditions can change very rapidly.
• The access road to the summit has restricted traffic — not all vehicles are permitted.
• Near the access road stands a 214 cm oak sculpture of the legendary 'Pradziad' — a white-haired elder who is the spirit of the mountains — carved in 2012 by sculptor Jiří Halouzka.

The tip of the Praděd transmission tower reaches approximately 1638 m a.s.l., making it the highest fixed point in the entire Czech Republic and the Sudetes — a full 36 metres above the summit of Sněžka.
