The Punkva Caves in the Moravian Karst are among the most extraordinary underground experiences in Central Europe — the only show caves in the Czech Republic where part of the tour takes place on an electric boat gliding along a subterranean river. With over 200,000 visitors a year, they are the most visited cave system in the country, and once you step inside, it is easy to understand why.

The guided route leads through spectacular domed chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and towering stalagnates, all the way down to the bottom of the famous Macocha Abyss. The atmosphere shifts from mysterious underground silence to open-sky wonder as you stand at the base of that dramatic gorge. A constant temperature of around 7–8°C makes the caves a refreshing escape in summer and a cosy underground world in winter.

The Punkva Caves form part of the Amateur Cave system — the longest cave network in the Czech Republic at over 50 km. A motorised boat ride inside a show cave is exceptionally rare in continental Europe, making this experience truly one of a kind.
