Slovak Paradise is one of Central Europe's most thrilling natural destinations — a national park where rivers have carved breathtaking gorges, canyons and caves, and where hiking trails are equipped with ladders, chains and footbridges to take you places few other parks would dare. The landscape is shaped by the Hornád River and its tributaries, which have sculpted spectacular ravines over millennia. The most famous include Suchá Belá, Piecky, Kyseľ and the impressive 11.7 km Hornád Canyon — the longest in the park. The Závojový waterfall drops a dramatic 70 metres. In summer the gorges are lush and cool; in autumn beech forests turn the canyons gold and crimson; in winter frozen waterfalls and icy rocks create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. The highest peak, Predná hoľa, rises to 1,545 m, while the rocky ledge of Tomášovský výhľad offers one of the finest panoramic views in the region.

• Čingov (northern tourist centre) — trail to Tomášovský výhľad viewpoint, blue trail, moderate difficulty
• Dedinky (southern tourist centre) — access to Veľký Sokol ravine (4.5 km long), demanding

• Around 300 km of marked trails with fixed ladders, chains and bridges — sturdy hiking boots are essential
• Dobšinská Ice Cave is the only cave open to visitors; UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000; guided tours only, seasonal schedule applies
• Some gorge trails are one-directional — always check the trail map before setting off
• The park is part of the Natura 2000 network; staying on marked trails is mandatory
