Slovak Paradise is one of Slovakia's most thrilling natural regions — a dramatic maze of narrow gorges, roaring waterfalls and karst plateaus that feels like nothing else in Central Europe. Forget gentle strolls: here you climb iron ladders, wade through streams and squeeze through rock crevices, all within a pristine national park.
Ninety percent of the park is covered by fir-beech and mixed forests, crossed by the Hornád and Hnilec rivers. The gorges slice deep into limestone, keeping their floors cool and shadowy even in summer, while waterfalls tumble at almost every bend. The highest point, Borovniak (1,272 m), rises above open karst plateaus — Glac and Geravy — where the views open up beautifully after the forest drama below.

Practical info:
Fun fact: the name 'Slovak Paradise' was only coined in 1921, yet the park already harbours 436 catalogued caves — and only one is open to the public, making that UNESCO ice cave all the more special.
