Nižné Šiprúnske sedlo (1,327 m) is a rewarding trail junction in the Veľká Fatra mountains of Slovakia, sitting on the northern slopes of Šiprún (1,461 m). It offers open views, fresh mountain air and a satisfying sense of arrival that makes it worth every step.

Despite its name suggesting a mountain pass, this spot is actually a hiking trail crossroads placed slightly above the true saddle — a little quirk that adds to its charm. Looking north, you are treated to sweeping views over the vast pastoral meadows of Maďarovo. The landscape shifts beautifully with the seasons: lush green in summer, fiery beech colours in autumn. The junction sits right on the boundary of the Veľká Fatra National Park — the western side falls within the protected zone, while the eastern side lies in its buffer zone.

Fun fact: the Slovak word 'sedlo' means 'saddle' or 'pass', yet this trail junction was intentionally placed a little higher than the actual geographical pass, simply for the convenience of hikers.
