Špičák (1001 m) is a compact, pointed peak on the southern edge of the central Krkonoše Mountains, rising sharply above the town of Černý Důl. Its steep flanks and cone-like shape make it a distinctive landmark long before you reach its base.

The summit itself opens into a clearing created by logging the original forest, while the surrounding slopes remain wooded, offering shade and a quiet, woodland atmosphere. The eastern slope drops dramatically into the valley of the Čistá stream, giving a real sense of height, while the southern slope marks the boundary of the Krkonoše National Park. In winter, the southern side transforms into a busy ski area with cable cars and lifts, making Špičák a peak of two very different moods.

How to reach the summit

• Černý Důl — via forest road toward Tetřeví boudy, then an unmarked path from the saddle between Špičák and Jelení vrch — around 1-1.5 hours, moderate difficulty
• Alternatively follow the yellow-marked trail 7210 to the saddle, then take the unmarked path to the top

Practical information

• There are no buildings on the summit itself, but the mountain settlement of Bönischovy boudy lies on the southwestern slope
• The final stretch to the top is unmarked, so a map or GPS is recommended
• A large ski resort with two cable cars and several lifts operates on the southern slope

Špičák is one of those Krkonoše peaks where a short walk takes you from a lively ski resort into the calm of a forest clearing at the top — a small mountain with a surprisingly varied character.
