Černá hora (1,300 m a.s.l.) is one of the most recognisable summits in the eastern Giant Mountains — crowned by a tall TV transmitter mast, dotted with mountain huts and blessed with a genuinely impressive topographic prominence of 215 m. It may not be the highest peak in the Krkonoše range, but it is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding to visit, offering something for hikers, skiers and cable-car day-trippers alike.

The summit plateau is broad and relatively flat, draped in spruce forest with open meadows around the scattered mountain lodges. Just a short walk from the top lies the Černohorské rašeliniště — a beautiful highland peat bog that is one of the most popular natural attractions in the area. In winter the southeastern slopes transform into a lively ski resort with four red and ten blue pistes, while summer brings peaceful hiking trails and fresh mountain air.

• Janské Lázně (parking at the lower cable-car station) — red trail, approx. 1.5–2 h, easy to moderate — or ride the 'Černohorský Express' gondola (2,304 m long, 8-seat cabins, the only gondola lift of its kind in the Czech Republic).
• From the upper gondola station to the summit — follow the road past Sokolská bouda to the transmitter mast, approx. 15–20 min, easy.

• The 'Černohorský Express' gondola operates year-round (summer and winter seasons) — check current opening hours before your visit.
• Accommodation is available at hotel Černá bouda (approx. 400 m northeast of the summit) and at Horský hotel and Sokolská bouda (approx. 600 m southeast).
• The 24 m Panorama observation tower, opened in 1998, stands on the penultimate pylon of the original 1928 cable car and offers sweeping panoramic views.
• A 3.5 km toboggan run follows the Zvonková cesta from the upper gondola station down to Janské Lázně — sledges available to hire at the lower station.

The 78 m TV transmitter on the summit, built in 1977, is a landmark visible from a great distance across the Giant Mountains — a fitting beacon for a peak that has been drawing visitors for well over a century.
