Na Strašidlech (913 m), also known as Heinrichstein or Medveď (the Bear), is a rocky hill wrapped in local legend, two kilometers northwest of Horní Blatná in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge). Its name translates roughly to 'Among the Ghosts' - and for centuries, tales of hidden treasure, magic flowers and wild hunts have surrounded this rocky summit.

The character of the place is quiet and slightly eerie - a cluster of granite rock formations rising from the forest, far from the crowds. In summer, the woods offer cool shade and glimpses of views between the boulders; in winter, frost-covered rocks give the summit an almost haunted feel, matching the old stories passed down by generations of local miners and woodcutters. It's a peaceful, atmospheric spot for a short forest walk.

How to reach the summit

• Horní Blatná (from the sports field) — trail via Jelení hora (Hirschberg) to Stráň, about 1-1.5 hours, easy
• Potůčky train stop — follow road 221 towards Horní Blatná, then join the marked trail up the hill

Practical information

• A small chapel recalling the former 'Wurstkapelle' was rebuilt along the trail in 2017
• Three iron crosses once stood on the summit, erected by a man named Löffler and removed after World War II

Local legend holds that things 'aren't quite right' on this summit - stories of enchanted treasure, a magic flower and a wild ghostly hunt still give Na Strašidlech its mysterious reputation today.
