Kopa (1420 m a.s.l.) is a forested peak in the northern part of the Low Tatras, rising above the village of Liptovský Ján. It's a place for those seeking quiet, untouched nature rather than crowded trails — no marked path leads all the way to the summit.

The ridge and summit are covered by continuous, at times sparse forest that limits the view, but from spots with thinner vegetation you can spot neighboring Low Tatras peaks as well as the Chočské vrchy, Oravská Magura and Malá Fatra ranges. The massif lies within the Low Tatras National Park and forms part of the Jánska dolina Nature Reserve, giving it a wild, protected character throughout the year.

How to reach the summit

• From Liptovský Ján through the Jánska dolina valley, along the eastern foot — blue trail
• From Iľanovo via Poludnica towards Krakova hoľa, along the western ridge — blue trail

Practical information

• No marked hiking trail leads to the summit of Kopa itself
• Due to the area's protection status, reaching the summit is discouraged
• The nearest marked trails pass nearby but do not touch the top

Kopa forms part of a side ridge branching off from Krakova hoľa, with its waters draining into the Váh river via the Štiavnica river and the Biela stream — a quiet, forested corner of the Low Tatras that has kept its wild character.
