Tanečnica (1,681 m a.s.l.) is one of the most rewarding ridgeline peaks in the Low Tatras, rising above the scenic Demänová Valley about 12 km south of Liptovský Mikuláš. Its open, grassy ridge and dwarf-pine summit offer a sweeping 360-degree panorama that makes every step worthwhile.

The peak forms part of a long lateral spur running northward from the main Low Tatras ridge. Because the summit area is largely free of tall forest, the views here are exceptional — on a clear day you can spot the High Tatras, Chočské vrchy hills, Oravská Magura, the Beskyds and Malá Fatra, as well as countless Low Tatra summits. In summer the alpine meadows are a joy to walk through; in autumn the dwarf pines turn rich golden-green; in winter the ridge is a favourite with ski tourers and snowshoers. The eastern flank of the massif is protected as part of the Ďumbier National Nature Reserve.

• The massif lies within the Low Tatras National Park — park regulations apply throughout.
• The ridge marks the boundary of the Ďumbier National Nature Reserve; the eastern side of the summit falls inside the reserve.
• The marked trail crosses the summit as a traverse rather than an out-and-back route — plan your itinerary accordingly.

The name 'Tanečnica' comes from the Slovak word for 'dance' — local tradition holds that shepherds once gathered here on the wide mountain meadows for singing and dancing during summer grazing season.
