Hoľa (1,019 m) is a quiet, forest-covered summit in the Orava Beskids, rising above the village of Oravské Veselé. It's a spot for hikers who enjoy a bit of off-trail adventure rather than crowded paths - there is no marked trail leading directly to the top.

The summit is blanketed in dense forest, so there's no open view from the very top - you'll need to find a suitable clearing nearby to enjoy panoramas of the surrounding Orava Beskids peaks, and on clear days even the Tatras, Low Tatras and Oravská Magura. The area lies within the Horná Orava Protected Landscape Area, giving it a wilder, less-visited character. In winter the slopes can be snow-covered and navigation is trickier without a marked path, while summer and autumn offer peaceful forest walking away from busier trails.

How to reach the summit

• Mútne - yellow trail via Randová and Dudová toward Oravské Veselé, running along Hoľa's south-eastern slope (no marked trail to the summit itself), difficulty: moderate
• Oravské Veselé - approach from the village at the mountain's foot, continuing off-trail

The name Hoľa ('mountain pasture') hints at a time when these slopes were used for grazing - today they're covered in dense forest, making Hoľa one of the quieter corners of the Orava Beskids.
