The Dürrnbachhorn is a peak straddling the border between Bavaria and Salzburg in the Chiemgau Alps, offering a striking contrast between gentle southern slopes and dramatic northern cliffs. From the summit, hikers are rewarded with sweeping views over the Three Lakes region (Dreiseengebiet) with the Weitsee, Mittersee and Lödensee shimmering below.

The southern flanks are covered in forests, meadows and dwarf pine fields, making the ascent pleasant and scenic in any season. In winter, the routes to the top are popular for ski touring, while summer brings quiet ridge walks with far-reaching panoramas away from the crowds. The wild northern flank, cut by the deep Wilde Hausgräben ravines, remains the domain of experienced alpinists.
