Steinplatte is a striking mountain massif straddling the border between Salzburg and Tyrol, famous for its dramatic cliffs plunging south and its gentle, green slopes to the north. It's a place where raw alpine geology meets well-developed tourist infrastructure, making it a rewarding destination for both hikers and skiers.

From the summit at 1869 m, views stretch across the Chiemgau Alps and the neighboring Loferer Steinberge range. In summer, the mellow northern side invites relaxed hiking through alpine meadows and forest, while the southern rock faces draw climbers and lovers of rugged scenery. In winter, the area transforms into an extensive ski resort linked to the Bavarian Winklmoosalm, and in spring and autumn a peaceful mountain atmosphere prevails.
