Deep in the Ore Mountain forests stand the ruins of a mid-19th-century lime-burning works, one of the region's most striking industrial monuments. Two stone kiln towers, now stabilized and partly rebuilt, rise from the woodland like a forgotten fortress.

The site sits right next to an old quarry where calcite-dolomite marble was once extracted, and the surrounding forest gives it a wild, atmospheric feel in every season — mist-shrouded in autumn, quietly dramatic under snow in winter, and lush and green in summer. It's an easy, peaceful walk through mixed forest, a great stop for anyone interested in industrial heritage or simply looking for a quiet corner of the Krušné hory away from the crowds.

• Kovářská train station (line Chomutov–Vejprty) — about 950 m southwest, easy walk
• Bus stop Kovářská, rozc. Elektropřístroj — about 2 km via the green-marked trail, which continues on to the village of Háj

• Guided tours are available, giving access to the interior of the kiln and its history
• Protected as a cultural monument since 1963 and part of the Háj – Kovářská – Mědník Mining Cultural Landscape zone
• An associated site of the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2019
• The train runs only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during the summer season, twice a day

One of the kilns collapsed in 2004, but a thorough restoration completed in 2019, costing 6.6 million CZK, secured the ruins and opened them to visitors for the first time.
