Kamień na Równicy is the best-known of the so-called forest churches of the Beskids — secluded spots deep in the woods where Protestant congregations secretly gathered during the Counter-Reformation. Today it's a place of pilgrimage, quiet walks, and reflection for anyone seeking more than just mountain views.

The site lies on the western slopes of Równica, near the springs of the Gościeradowiec stream, at about 700 m above sea level. A flat stone that once served as an altar sits surrounded by dense forest, giving the place an intimate, almost mystical atmosphere — especially beautiful in spring and autumn when light filters through the canopy. In summer the area comes alive during annual services drawing large crowds, while winter brings complete silence broken only by the crunch of snow underfoot.

How to get there

• Ustroń — Main Beskid Trail (red), approx. 1-1.5 hours, easy route
• Równica mountain hut — short approach, the surrounding area is a convenient starting point

Practical information

• Listed as a historical monument since 1928
• A small spring next to the stone was enclosed in 1904, marked with a plaque dated 16.07.1904
• An annual service is held here on the Feast of Gustav Adolf Brotherly Aid
• Every two years, accompanying events take place near the Równica mountain hut after the service

The Main Beskid Trail runs right past the stone, so it's easy to combine a visit with a longer hike through the Silesian Beskids — while soaking in the atmosphere of a place that has carried its history for over 350 years.
