Known locally as Sasfészek, meaning Eagle's Nest, this traditional key-lodge hut sits hidden in the forests of the Pilis mountains, between Kesztölc and Pilisszentlélek. It's a place with real character, cared for for decades by hiking enthusiasts from Dorog.
Perched at 574 meters on Fekete-hegy, the hut is surrounded by the dense woodlands of the Duna-Ipoly National Park. In summer the shaded forest trails offer welcome relief from the heat, while in winter the snow-covered paths and quiet woods create a peaceful, almost secluded atmosphere. From the upstairs terrace, hikers are rewarded with a lovely view over Esztergom.
How to reach the hut
Practical information
A memorial plaque on the wall honors the poet József Berda, who visited the hut on his final hiking trip — his poem about the Pilis hills still recalls that last visit today.
