Liptická vyhlídka is a lookout with a story - built on a hill formed from the reclaimed Pokrok spoil heap, right above the spot where the village of Liptice once stood until it was demolished in 1976 due to brown coal mining. Today it's one of the most rewarding viewpoints near Teplice, offering a panorama that blends nature and industrial history.

From here you can take in the České středohoří highlands, including the distinctive peaks of Milešovka and Bořeň, as well as the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). The view also stretches to the Bílina open-pit mine, the towns of Duchcov and Osek, partly to the Ledvice power plant, and the reclaimed landscape around Mariánské Radčice. It's a fascinating mix of raw industrial scenery and gently returning greenery, making the atmosphere quite unique in every season - misty in autumn, crisp and clear on winter days.

• Close by stands the whimsical Duchcov Marina, playfully known as the first Czech seaport

The viewpoint was built with support from Severočeské doly, the Friends of Duchcov Society, and the town of Duchcov - a small memorial to the vanished village of Liptice, now offering visitors a broad view over a landscape reshaped by time.
