Milešovka (837 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Bohemian Central Highlands and arguably one of the most rewarding day hikes in the Czech Republic. It holds the title of the windiest mountain in the country — with only eight completely calm days per year — and rewards every visitor with a sweeping 360-degree panorama stretching to the Ore Mountains and far beyond.

The mountain has a distinctly volcanic character, shaped from trachyte rock and rising sharply above the surrounding hills. Its steep slopes are cloaked in oak woodland, while rocky outcrops like the 'Výří skály' cliff face harbour rare protected plants including Turk's cap lily and iris. The summit feels wild and exposed in any season: spring brings wildflowers, summer offers long views and a cool breeze, autumn transforms the forests into vivid colour, and winter can bring over a metre of snow alongside fierce gales.

• A mountain restaurant operates on the summit on weekends and public holidays; a snack bar is open Friday to Sunday.
• The 19-metre observation tower is open to the public in good weather, with a permanent meteorological exhibition inside.
• The Milešovka Meteorological Observatory has been in continuous operation since 1905 and is run by the Czech Academy of Sciences.
• Small overnight shelter 'Veberova nouzovna' accommodates up to 10 people.

The poet Karel Hynek Mácha climbed Milešovka on 1 November 1836, just weeks before his death, and was so moved by the view that he began reciting his verses aloud. Alexander von Humboldt reportedly called the panorama the third most beautiful in Europe.
