Těrlicko Reservoir is one of the most inviting recreational spots in Czech Silesia, offering something for every season. Whether you come for a summer swim, a lakeside bike ride, or winter skating on the frozen surface, this peaceful valley lake never disappoints.
The reservoir sits in a gentle, green landscape typical of the Těšín Silesia region. In summer the calm water reflects the surrounding hills and is busy with swimmers, anglers and boats. Autumn turns the riverside forests into shades of gold, and in winter — when temperatures allow — the frozen lake becomes a natural skating rink. The southern shore is lined with a road that makes the whole area easily accessible, and the meanders of the Stonávka River flowing into the reservoir add a lovely, wild touch to the scenery.
How to get thereWhen the reservoir was built between 1955 and 1964, part of the village of Těrlicko and even the main road connecting Ostrava and Český Těšín were flooded — the road had to be rerouted along the southern edge of the lake, which is now a pleasant scenic drive.
