Kateřina Reservoir is a peaceful body of water tucked between the villages of Soběchleby and Modlany, close to Teplice. It's not a mountain summit, but it makes for a relaxing detour if you're exploring the foothills of the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains).

The reservoir covers over 41 hectares, with a shoreline stretching about 3 kilometers around - perfect for an easy, unhurried walk. The terrain is flat and accessible, making it a great choice for families or anyone looking for a gentle stroll away from the crowds. In summer the open water draws anglers and walkers alike, while in autumn the reed beds and surrounding vegetation turn golden, creating lovely conditions for birdwatching and photography.

How to get there

• From Soběchleby - a short easy walk of a few minutes to the shore, flat terrain
• From Modlany - alternative access from the western side, also an easy approach

The reservoir was originally built as part of a water-management system to protect the former Chabařovice mine from surface water flowing down from the Ore Mountains - today it quietly serves as a recreational spot with a story rooted in the region's industrial past.
