Tiské stěny is one of the most captivating sandstone rock towns in the Czech Republic — a 'miniature labyrinth, beautiful like a rocky puppet theatre', as one writer memorably put it. Towers, tunnels, crevices and alcoves spread across both sections of the site, rewarding hikers and climbers alike with a landscape that feels almost otherworldly.

Individual rock formations rise up to 70 metres, while the highest point of the massif reaches 613 metres above sea level. The plateau called 'Nad stěnami' (623 m) crowns the area and offers sweeping views to the south-east and south-west. Each season brings a different mood: spring greens softening the grey sandstone, summer shade in the cool rock corridors, and vivid autumn colours framing the ancient towers. A well-marked educational trail winds through both parts of the rock town, making navigation straightforward for all visitors.

For centuries local villagers believed the dramatic rock formations were the devil's handiwork and refused to enter — it took Romantic-era poets, nobles and painters arriving in the late 18th century to reveal this place as the natural wonder it truly is.
