V Bahnách is a small but botanically rich wetland reserve tucked into a shallow valley along the Loděnice stream, just below the Bucký rybník pond. If you love quiet, untouched corners of nature, this peat bog is a real find - the peat layer here reaches an impressive 320 cm in depth.

The landscape is a mosaic of reed beds, alder groves and fen meadows. In summer the reserve bursts into bloom with rare plants like round-leaved sundew, marsh gentian and common butterwort. The atmosphere is peaceful and a bit wild, especially in early morning mist rising over the marshland. This is a spot for nature lovers seeking solitude rather than crowded trails.

How to get there

• Třtice - about 1 km south of the village, flat terrain, easy walk
• Alternative approach along the path near the Loděnice stream toward Bucký rybník

• The reserve covers 8.6 ha at an elevation of 422 m
• Owned and managed by the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (ČZU)
• Stick to marked paths to protect the sensitive peatland vegetation and rare species

Peat once extracted here supplied the Mšené spa - today the focus has shifted entirely to preserving this rare fen ecosystem, home to six species of amphibians.
