Mělce is a modest hill near the town of Louny that packs surprising historical depth into its gentle slopes. It is a place where quiet countryside walking meets stories of war and remembrance, making it a rewarding short excursion for curious hikers.

The surrounding landscape belongs to the Lounská pahorkatina, part of the wider Dolnooharská tabule, with rolling farmland, patches of woodland, and open views typical of this part of the Ústí nad Labem Region. In spring and summer the hill is framed by green fields, autumn brings mellow colors to the countryside, and winter offers a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere perfect for a reflective walk.

How to get to the summit

• Louny — yellow trail, approx. 30-40 minutes, easy difficulty
• Březno — side branch of the yellow trail leading to the partisan memorial

• Near the summit stands a memorial cross marking the burial site of soldiers from the Battle of Kulm (Chlumec) in 1813
• On the northern slope there is a memorial to the fallen paratroopers of the Jan Kozina group
• At the northern foot of the hill once lay the oldest Jewish cemetery of Louny, dating from the second half of the 17th century
