Krkonoše National Park is the oldest national park in the Czech Republic — established in 1963 and covering 364 km² of some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Central Europe. Here you will find alpine meadows, ancient forests, dramatic waterfalls and the highest summit in the entire country, all within a single protected area.

The landscape shifts beautifully with the seasons. In summer, lush highland meadows burst with rare wildflowers and the Pančava, Labe and Mumlava waterfalls roar with snowmelt. Autumn brings golden colours to the beech and spruce forests, while winter wraps the peaks in snow for up to 180 days — making this a favourite destination for both skiers and snowshoers. Sněžka (1603 m) crowns the park and forms the border with Poland; on a clear day the views from the top stretch across Bohemia and Silesia alike. The park is home to the endemic Krkonoše mayfly (Rhithrogena corcontica), found nowhere else on Earth.

• The park is divided into quiet zones covering approx. 22% of its area — movement is permitted only on marked trails within these zones
• Additional barriers at the Sněžka summit prevent visitors from leaving designated paths
• The park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (since 1992) and a certified EUROPARC transboundary park together with the Polish Karkonoski National Park
• It contains wetlands listed under the Ramsar Convention
