Přední Planina (1198 m a.s.l.) sits at the heart of the Giant Mountains, just 2.5 km south of the popular resort town of Špindlerův Mlýn. It is a peak that wears two very different faces: a peaceful forested hiking destination in summer, and a lively ski slope complex in winter — all within the protected landscape of Krkonoše National Park.

The mountain forms part of a ridge extending from the more distant Zadní Planina, curving southward at this point. Its northern flank, dropping steeply into the valley of Svatý Petr, is impressively abrupt, while the upper summit area has been cleared of trees, opening up views of the surrounding terrain. Norway spruce forest clings to the lower slopes, and to the northwest a distinctive spur called Hromovka juts out from the main massif. Just south of the summit you will find a pair of small meadow enclaves with traditional mountain cottages — including the well-known Bouda Na Pláni.

• Špindlerův Mlýn — green-marked trail no. 4206 towards Pec pod Sněžkou, running along the western side of the mountain — moderate difficulty
• A short blue-marked trail (no. 1809) crosses directly over the summit — can be combined for a loop

• The summit lies within Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP) — stay on marked trails and follow park regulations
• In winter, three cable cars (Pláň, Pláň Východ, Hromovka) serve the northern slopes as part of Špindlerův Mlýn Ski Resort — the longest reaches the upper summit area
• The mountain hut Bouda Na Pláni is located just south of the summit

The peak's old German name, Planur, is a quiet reminder of the region's long shared Bohemian-German history — today, Přední Planina is best known as one of the most visited ski destinations in the Czech Republic.
