Kleiner Galgenteich is a small artificial pond west of Altenberg in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge), and today it's a beloved local swimming spot rather than the industrial water reservoir it once was. It's the smallest of the area's artificial ponds, which gives it a cosy, relaxed feel compared to its bigger neighbour.

Originally built to store water used for tin-ore washing at nearby mine shafts, the pond lost its industrial purpose once pipelines took over the water supply in the early 20th century - and was turned into a swimming spot instead. Surrounded by greenery, it's a favourite destination for kindergarten groups, youth groups and anyone looking to cool off in summer. Since it sits right next to the international campsite, it's also the closest swimming option for campers in the area. A section of the shore is designated for nude bathing, adding to its relaxed, easy-going atmosphere.
