Lake Międzybrodzkie is one of the most scenic reservoir lakes in the Polish Beskids — a sparkling stretch of water cradled by forested hills, offering a perfect escape for outdoor lovers and those simply seeking relaxation by the water. Created in 1937 following the construction of the Porąbka Dam, it has since become a beloved recreational gem of the Silesia region.

The lake stretches roughly 5 km from north to south, covering a surface area of 3.8 km². The surrounding Beskid hills frame the water beautifully in every season — lush green in spring, lively with swimmers and anglers in summer, and ablaze with warm colours in autumn. In winter, the lake takes on a quiet, almost mystical quality. Along its shores lie two charming summer villages — Międzybrodzie Bialskie and Międzybrodzie Żywieckie — where you will find accommodation, local eateries and water sports equipment rental.

• Międzybrodzie Bialskie (beach parking) — by car from Bielsko-Biała via road 948, approx. 20 km; bus connections available from Bielsko-Biała and Żywiec
• Porąbka (dam area) — starting point for a pleasant walk along the lakeshore, easy terrain, great for families

• The lake serves as a flood control and hydroelectric reservoir — water levels may vary
• The lake is home to many fish species (pike, pike-perch, trout and others) — fishing requires a valid Polish Angling Association (PZW) licence
• The dam area is partially open to visitors and worth a short detour

The Porąbka Dam was designed by Professor Gabriel Narutowicz — who later became the first President of Poland — making this place as historically fascinating as it is naturally beautiful.
