Dolina Przednich Koperszadów is a hidden gem tucked away in the Tatra Mountains — a valley that surprises visitors with its quiet beauty and the striking contrast of gentle grassy slopes dotted with white limestone crags. Although it officially belongs to the High Tatras system, its landscape and geology are unmistakably Belianske Tatry in character. If you are looking for wild, unspoilt mountain scenery away from the crowds, this is your place.
The valley floor marks the boundary between the High Tatras and the Belianske Tatras. Its upper flat section, known as Bielska Równia, offers a natural resting spot before the climb to Przełęcz pod Kopą pass. A small mountain stream — Potok spod Kopy — winds along the valley floor, fed by snowmelt from the pass above. In spring and summer the meadows are lush and green; in autumn golden grasses and crisp mountain air give the valley a magical atmosphere.
How to get thereThe curious name 'Koperszady' dates back to 1435 and derives from the German 'Kupferschächte' — meaning 'copper shafts'. German miners from the Spiš region once worked here extracting copper ore, leaving a legacy preserved in the valley's name to this day.
