Červený kámen is one of the most striking rock formations on the slopes of Ještěd, the mountain that dominates the Podještědí landscape. This quartzite outcrop, nearly 250 metres long, gets its name from the reddish iron oxide deposits coating the surfaces of its rock fissures, giving the stone its distinctive rusty hue.

What makes this spot special is above all the view - from the summit rock, hikers are treated to a beautiful panorama of the Ještěd peak itself and the surrounding Podještědí countryside. The rocky outcrops set against the forest create a wild, rugged atmosphere, especially charming in autumn when the reddish tones of the stone blend with the colours of falling leaves, and in winter when snow highlights the contrast. It's a peaceful spot, perfect for a short break during a hike through the Ještěd Nature Park.

• Červený kámen trail junction - yellow and red trail markers, about 100 m from the rock, easy access
• The yellow-marked educational trail Naučná stezka Terasy Ještědu also runs alongside

The name isn't a coincidence - the reddish iron oxide stains on the rock's cracks gave this quartzite wall its distinctive name and made it one of the more interesting stops along the Ještěd ridge trail.
