Sveto brdo is the second-highest peak of the Velebit mountain range, rising to 1752 m above sea level. Its distinctive silhouette stands out clearly on the horizon when viewed from the sea, visible from the island of Pag all the way to Pašman, making it one of the most recognizable landmarks of the range.
The peak sits on the southeastern arm of Velebit, within the Southern Velebit area, which is also home to the range's highest point, Vaganski vrh. The terrain here is classic Velebit: rocky ridgelines, stony trails, and sweeping views over the Adriatic Sea and its islands. Beyond Sveto brdo, heading southeast, the elevation drops sharply toward the peak of Ćelavac, the Prezid pass, and further on to Crnopac. In summer, the hike demands good fitness and sun protection, while in winter the summit can be snow-covered and exposed to strong winds, adding significant difficulty.
How to reach the summit
Sveto brdo offers a vantage point over nearly the entire southern Velebit coastline and its chain of Adriatic islands. It's a favorite among hikers seeking the authentic, wild character of Croatia's mountains, away from the crowds.
