Predigtstuhl rises to 1613 m in the Lattengebirge range of the Berchtesgaden Alps, one of the beloved local mountains of Bad Reichenhall. What makes it truly special is the Predigtstuhlbahn, the world's oldest cable car still operating in its original condition since 1928.

From the glass-enclosed terrace of the mountain restaurant, in place since 1954, you get sweeping views across the entire Bad Reichenhall basin and the surrounding peaks. The mountain has a friendly, welcoming character, easily accessible yet surrounded by genuine alpine scenery. In summer, the Schlegelmulde and Hochschlegel areas are popular paragliding launch sites, while the peak also serves as a starting point for hikes ranging from easy strolls to demanding alpine routes. Nearby stands the Teisendorfer Hütte, a self-catering hut run by the Teisendorf section of the German Alpine Club since 2004.

An interesting footnote: in 2008 there were plans to build a 55-metre statue of Christ near the summit, taller than the famous one in Rio de Janeiro, but the city council ultimately rejected the building permit.
