Kamberk is a small but striking hill in the Liberec Region, rising right at the western edge of the town of Osečná. Its neat, truncated-cone shape catches the eye immediately and hints at its volcanic origin.

The hill is largely forested and built of basaltic nephelinite rock that pushed through Upper Cretaceous sediments, which is exactly what gives it such a distinct, dome-like form. A partially cleared eastern slope opens up limited but pleasant views over Osečná and the Podještědí region. Around its base you'll find a mix of houses, meadows and farmland, while the Ploučnice River wraps around the hill from the north and west. A private cottage sits right on the summit, giving the place a homely, lived-in feel. In spring and summer the surrounding fields and meadows form a colourful patchwork, autumn brings warm tones to the wooded slopes, and in winter the hill turns quiet and still, though the cottage at the top is a reminder that life here goes on all year round.

• Osečná or the parking area at the turn-off to Lázně Kundratice — footpath approach from the south, short walk, easy difficulty
