Fenneregg (3123 m) is a summit in the Rieserferner Group, rising right on the Austrian-Italian border between East and South Tyrol. It has no summit cross or register box - a wild, quiet peak usually climbed as a bonus stop on the way to the nearby Lenkstein.

The only markers at the top are a border stone and a small stone cairn with a wooden pole. The landscape here is stark and rocky, with the neighboring Rosshorn nearby. The slopes falling towards East Tyrol lie within the Hohe Tauern National Park, while the South Tyrolean side of the mountain is protected within the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park. It's a rewarding destination for hikers seeking solitude and raw high-alpine terrain rather than crowds and views packed with summit crosses.

How to reach the summit

• Patscher Tal valley and Barmer Hütte (2610 m) — marked trail via the Rosshornscharte (2916 m), secured with steel cables, requires good footing and caution in old snow or wet conditions, difficulty: demanding
• Alternatively from the South Tyrolean Bachertal (a side valley of the Reintal), via variants of the Arthur-Hartdegen-Weg to the Lenksteinjoch, with the Kasseler Hütte (2276 m) as a base
• A third option leads from the Hinteres Defereggental via the Seebachalm, through the Seebachtal, In die Platten, and the Fleischbachkees glacier to the Rosshornscharte

Practical information
