Anenský vrch is a modest ridge rising between the villages of Lobendava and Lipová, tucked into the gentle hills of the Šluknov Hilly Land. It's a peaceful spot combining quiet countryside with a touch of baroque pilgrimage history.

The summit area and part of the northern slope are covered with deciduous and mixed forest, while the rest of the hill is farmland. Don't expect dramatic panoramas here - instead you get the calm, rolling character typical of this borderland region, especially pretty in autumn when the woods turn golden, or in spring when the meadows green up. Nearby, the Anenský potok stream has its source, eventually feeding into the Elbe and the North Sea basin.

How to reach the summit

• From Lobendava or Lipová - follow the green-marked trail running from the state border (Severní, part of Lobendava) to Jiříkov; an easy route suitable for most hikers
• Regional road II/266 connecting Rumburk, Šluknov, Lipová and Lobendava passes close to the summit, making the area easy to reach by car

Good to know

• Near the top stands the baroque Chapel of St. Anne (1775-1777), accompanied by a Garden of Gethsemane and a Way of the Cross ending at the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre
• On the Sunday after the feast of St. Anne and Joachim (26 July), a traditional pilgrimage fair takes place at the chapel

It's a low-key hill, but the mix of quiet nature and centuries-old pilgrimage tradition gives it a character worth a short detour.
