A modest but charming hill on the edge of the Lusatian Mountains, right by the Czech border — Prinz-Friedrich-August-Höhe has welcomed hikers for over a century with its stone lookout tower and cosy mountain inn. It's a perfect easy, family-friendly destination, rewarding you with a wide view over the Lusatian countryside.

The hill rises above the village of Neudorf, surrounded by forest and streams — the Sohlander Dorfbach flows past to the south, the Tännichtwasser to the north. Nearby summits like Kinderberg, Fuchsberg, Schwarze Koppe and Barthelsberg create a gentle, rolling landscape typical of the region. In summer it's a quiet green retreat for walking, in autumn the forests turn golden, and in winter the area — once a small ski hub — still invites snowy strolls. From the tower's platform, the view stretches to Obersohland, Neugrafenwalde, Schluckenau and the Spitzberg peak.

The tower was once nameless and the inn was known simply as 'Grenzbaude' (Border Lodge) — restoration works brought back its original name, honouring the Saxon Prince Friedrich August it still carries today.
