Malá Skála Chateau stands proudly above the right bank of the Jizera River, in the village that shares its name, and even though you can't step inside, its silhouette and surrounding grounds make a lovely stop on any hike through the Bohemian Paradise region.

There's a quiet, private charm to this place - the building is wrapped in a park full of interesting trees, a terraced garden with rococo vases, and old brewery cellars tucked into the hillside. The view of the chateau from along the river, especially in autumn when the park glows with color, is one of those images that sticks with you after a walk through the Jizera valley. The surroundings are perfect for a relaxed stroll or a short bike ride along the river, while the hills of Bohemian Paradise nearby invite further exploration.

Fun fact: writer Jarmila Glazarová was born here, the daughter of the estate's manager, and her grave can be found at the nearby forest cemetery.
