Doksy Chateau is a Renaissance manor from the 16th century that once belonged to the powerful Wallenstein family, and today welcomes visitors with a library, tourist information centre and the Čtyřlístek museum right inside its walls. It's a relaxed stop near Lake Máchovo, blending centuries of history with everyday town life.

The U-shaped chateau complex is wrapped in an English-style park laid out after 1820, home to old pines, elms, cypresses and a remarkable lime tree with three fused trunks. Spring and summer bring town festivals to the grounds, autumn paints the old trees gold, and in winter the New Year's fireworks light up the onion-domed tower that marks the skyline. The atmosphere shifts with the seasons, but the sense of quiet history never fades.

One curious twist of history: one of the chateau's owners was murdered in Cheb, and his own killer briefly inherited the estate before it returned to the Wallenstein family for another 265 years.
