The Museum of the Town of Chabařovice is a small but charming institution housed in the historic old town hall building from 1609. It is a great stop for anyone curious about the story of this small town and the surrounding villages that vanished due to brown coal mining.

The old town hall building itself is architecturally interesting, standing between and dividing two town squares. Over the centuries it has served many purposes, including as a hotel and even a town jail. In the mid-1990s it was renovated, including the original clock tower mechanism, which is still wound by hand today. The building now hosts local associations, town council meetings, and cultural events, with the town library located at the back.

• The exhibition includes photo documentation of vanished villages (including Lochočice, Nedvězí, Otovice, Tuchomyšl, Vyklice) as well as the history of the town itself from its founding to the present
• Open to the public by appointment only

Interestingly, the areas of the former villages shown in the exhibition are now partly covered by Lake Milada, formed after the flooding of the former open-pit mine.
