Líčkov Castle stands proudly on a rocky spur above the village of the same name in the Ústí nad Labem Region. This is a place with a turbulent history stretching back to a medieval stronghold, where rococo interiors meet legends of an imprisoned rebellious nobleman.

The castle rises on a defensible promontory, surrounded by a former moat, outbuildings, and a castle garden. The views over the surrounding hills and valleys are striking in every season - in spring the greenery frames the baroque-rococo architecture beautifully, in autumn the nearby forests turn golden, and in winter the stark silhouette of the tower takes on a mysterious quality. Unfortunately, the property has been tied up in ownership disputes for years and is currently closed to visitors, but the surrounding area and trails still make for a rewarding walk.

Interesting fact: in the 16th century, the rebellious nobleman Jiří Popel of Lobkowicz was imprisoned here before being transported to Kladsko, and in the 20th century the painter Oskar Brázda lived and worked here, with his heir only regaining ownership after decades of legal battles.
