Step back in time at Hoslovice Water Mill — considered the oldest surviving water mill in the Czech Republic. Tucked away in the quiet village of Hoslovice in South Bohemia, this single-wheel mill is a living piece of history that genuinely takes your breath away. The atmosphere here is wonderfully authentic. A thatched roof, stone walls, a traditional black kitchen and the gentle sound of water channelled through a 150-metre mill race all combine to create something you simply cannot fake. The grounds include a shed, cowsheds and a barn, all clustered around a small mill pond. In spring and summer the whole complex is lush and green; in autumn it glows warmly — it is a charming spot in any season.

The first written record of the mill dates to the 1654 tax register, but some sources suggest it may be as old as the village of Hoslovice itself. Since 2008 it has been protected as a National Cultural Monument of the Czech Republic — a well-deserved honour for such a remarkable survivor.
