Huťská hora (1187 m a.s.l.) is the highest point of the Svojšská Highlands in the Czech part of the Šumava (Bohemian Forest) — a gently rounded summit that welcomes hikers of all experience levels. Expect wide-open pastures, the haunting ruins of a 19th-century glassworks, and a landscape that shifts beautifully with every season.

The summit itself is covered in spruce forest, while the southern and south-eastern slopes open up into broad, treeless meadows — once the site of the village of Zhůří. In spring, wet meadows burst into carpets of marsh marigolds and cottongrass, and summer brings mountain arnica, harebells and several species of hawkweed. In winter the area transforms into a peaceful cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination.

• From Kašperské Hory — follow the green trail heading south towards Horská Kvilda; at the 'Huťská hora - odbočka' junction (south-east of the summit) take the side path for approximately 500 m to the top; difficulty: easy.
• From Horská Kvilda — same green trail heading north; turn off at the junction for the short climb to the summit; difficulty: easy.

• The summit lies within Zone II of Šumava National Park — please stay on marked trails.
• At the top you will find a geodetic marker and a former military transmission tower.
• About 500 m east of the summit stands a roofed cooling and melting tower — the last remnant of a glassworks that closed at the end of the 19th century.
• Roughly 600 m north-north-east (yellow trail) is a memorial to the victims of an Air France crash on Christmas Eve 1937.
• Near the historic Golden Trail grows the protected 'Zhůřská jedle' — a monumental silver fir with a trunk circumference of 284 cm.

The green trail across Huťská hora largely follows the route of the ancient Golden Trail, one of the most important medieval trade routes connecting Bohemia with Bavaria — so every step here echoes centuries of history.
