Tucked away in the Chornohora massif, this cascade of waterfalls is a rewarding destination for anyone willing to hike a bit off the beaten path. With a total drop of around 100 meters and a highest single cascade reaching 10 meters, it's one of the more impressive waterfall systems in the Ukrainian Carpathians.

The waterfalls tumble down the Munchel stream, surrounded by dense beech and spruce forest typical of the southeastern Chornohora. In summer the spray offers welcome relief from the heat, while spring snowmelt makes the cascades roar with extra force. Autumn paints the surrounding slopes in gold and rust, and in winter parts of the stream freeze into striking ice formations. The approach trail winds through quiet, scenic terrain, far from the busier routes of Chornohora's main ridge.

• Dzembronia village (Verkhovyna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region) - about 5 km southwest, moderate difficulty trail, allow a few hours for the round trip

The alternative name, Smotrytsky, comes from the nearby Smotrych peak, at whose foot the cascades make their final dramatic drop.
