Rebra (2001 m) is one of the highest peaks in the Ukrainian Carpathians, standing proudly in the heart of the Chornohora range. With dramatic rocky cliffs on its northern face, glacial lakes tucked into its eastern cirque, and sweeping ridgeline views, this summit delivers a genuinely alpine experience.

The peak sits on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions, flanked by Turkul to the northwest and Brebenskul to the southeast. The southern slopes are gentle and grass-covered, draped in tufted hair-grass and mat-grass meadows, while the northern and northeastern faces plunge in steep rocky escarpments — a striking contrast that makes the summit feel all the more rewarding. To the east, a broad glacial cirque called Hadzhyna cradles small high-altitude lakes. In summer the highland meadows are lush and green; in autumn they turn golden; in winter Rebra becomes a serious, snow-clad alpine peak.

• From NSB 'Zaroslyak' (best reached from the village of Vorokhta) via Lake Nesamovyte, then red trail — yellow + red trail, approx. 4 hrs up / 3 hrs down, moderate
• From Turkul via the marker 'Pid Rebramy (1930 m)' — red trail, approx. 2 hrs up / 2 hrs down, easy
• From the village of Hoverla via the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve checkpoint and Turkulska polonyna, then red trail from the foot of Turkul — blue + red trail, approx. 5 hrs up / 4 hrs down, moderate

• Several routes pass through the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve — you will need to pass through an official checkpoint (KPP).
• The glacial cirque Hadzhyna, just east of the summit, holds small alpine lakes worth visiting.
• The nearest settlement is the village of Bystrets.

Rebra is home to several rare plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, including the Arolla pine and Carpathian ragwort — a treat for anyone with an interest in alpine flora.
