Tucked away in the greenery of the Medical Garden in central Bratislava, the Aspremont Summer Palace is one of the city's most charming Baroque gems. Built around 1770–1771, it offers visitors a peaceful escape into 18th-century aristocratic elegance right in the heart of the Slovak capital.

The palace faces its garden — once laid out in the fashionable French style — with a graceful main facade that feels worlds away from the busy streets just outside. Inside, the Louis XVI decorative style prevails: laurel wreaths, ribbon garlands and medallions adorn the ceremonial hall, which is crowned by a wide dome. Whether you visit on a sunny summer afternoon or a quiet winter day, the atmosphere here is consistently refined and calm.

• Bratislava city centre, Špitálska Street 24 — the palace is located within the Medical Garden; a leisurely walk from the main city centre takes about 10–15 minutes, difficulty: easy.
• Public transport: several bus and tram lines stop nearby; city-centre parking available in the surrounding area.

• The building currently houses the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University — access to the interior may be limited to visitors.
• The late-Baroque Chapel of the Crucifixion on the ground floor was restored and reopened on 20 December 2004; its centrepiece is an altar of red and white marble.

In the 19th century the palace was also widely known as 'Schiffbeck's Palace', after Bratislava merchant Karol Schiffbeck who purchased the property in 1862 — a small but telling reminder of the city's rich bourgeois past.
