Veľký Javorník (594 m a.s.l.) is one of the most recognisable summits in the Male Karpaty (Little Carpathians) — its distinctive air traffic radar dome makes it easy to spot from miles around. Sitting just 3 km west of the town of Svätý Jur, it offers an accessible mountain escape within easy reach of Bratislava.

The peak sits on the main ridge of the Little Carpathians, in the area known as Homoľské Karpaty. Mixed forest covers most of the slopes, and clearings near the top reward hikers with wide-ranging views across the Little Carpathian ridges, the Borská and Podunajská lowlands, and — on clear days — as far as Považský Inovec, Vtáčnik, Tribeč, and the foothills of the Alps to the southwest. The trails are walkable year-round, with spring and autumn offering the most pleasant conditions.

• From Svätý Jur — a road leads directly to the summit, making it accessible on foot or by car.
• From Neštich via yellow trail — to Biely Kríž junction, moderate difficulty.
• From Neštich via blue trail — to Salaš junction, moderate difficulty.
• Red-marked Štefánik Magistrale — from the north via Pezinská Baba and Salaš junction, or from the south via Kamzík and Biely Kríž junction, moderate difficulty.

• A protection zone around the air traffic radar is in place at the summit — the radar facility itself is not open to visitors.
• The peak falls within the Male Karpaty Protected Landscape Area.
• The Jurské jazero nature reserve lies at the western foot of the mountain.

The radar installation on top of Veľký Javorník is a secondary surveillance radar operated by the Air Traffic Services of the Slovak Republic — a fascinating example of modern infrastructure becoming an iconic part of a mountain's identity.
