Somár (650 m a.s.l.) is a rewarding summit in the Little Carpathians that punches well above its weight when it comes to views. Sitting above the village of Limbach, roughly 7 km west of Pezinok, it offers an almost full 360-degree panorama without demanding any serious climbing effort.

The summit itself is a grassy plateau complete with a fireplace — a welcoming spot to rest and take in the scenery. Low mountain-meadow vegetation gives way to patchy woodland, keeping the views wide open across the surrounding Little Carpathian ridges, the Borská and Podunajská lowlands, and — on a clear day — all the way to the foothills of the Alps, Považský Inovec, Vtáčnik and Tribeč. Whether you visit in spring when the meadows bloom or in autumn when the forests turn golden, Somár has a quiet, unhurried charm.

• The summit is crossed by the Štefánikova magistrála, one of Slovakia's most celebrated long-distance hiking trails.
• The area falls within the Malé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area (CHKO).
• The summit sits on the boundary of Malacky and Pezinok districts, partly overlapping the Záhorie military zone.

The fireplace on the grassy summit makes Somár a favourite evening destination for locals from Limbach and Pezinok — bring something to grill and stay for the sunset.
