Welcome to the largest rock city in Central Europe — a surreal landscape of soaring sandstone towers, narrow gorges, waterfalls and two small lakes tucked away in the Eastern Bohemian highlands. Adršpach-Teplice Rocks is one of those rare places that genuinely takes your breath away at every turn.

The reserve is split into two distinct sections: Adršpach Rocks, where towers reach up to 90 metres and the scenery is dramatic and enclosed, and Teplice Rocks, shaped by bold rock walls, a labyrinthine plateau known as 'Bludiště', and ridges including Čáp (786 m). Separating them is the deep 7-kilometre Vlčí rokle canyon. The atmosphere shifts beautifully with the seasons — spring brings rushing meltwater through the gorges, summer fills the crevices with deep green moss, autumn sets the forests ablaze with colour, and winter dusts the pinnacles with snow for a truly otherworldly feel.

• Adršpach village (car park at entrance) — paid circular trail through Adršpach Rocks, approx. 2–3 hours, easy to moderate
• Teplice nad Metují — paid circular trail through Teplice Rocks along Skalní potok stream, approx. 2 hours, easy; the Supí skály area and Čáp summit are freely accessible

• Entry to the circular tourist trails is ticketed — buy tickets at the entrance gates
• Rock climbing requires a special permit via the Czech Mountaineering Association; it is otherwise prohibited in national nature reserves
• The reserve is managed by the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic
• Getting there: trains run to Adršpach and Teplice nad Metují from Trutnov and Náchod

Film fans might recognise the rocks — in 2005, scenes from 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' were filmed here, and it is easy to see why the filmmakers chose this magical place.
